Gear & Uniforms

When you join LudoSport there is no obligation to buy a uniform straight-away, just coming to classes (to begin with) in suitable gym gear, comfortable tee-shirt joggers, and trainers (along with protective gear) is all you need.

All our official gear is available from Lama di Luce, the sport's licenced provider.

Lama

Protection

Official Gloves (Lama di Luce)
Lama di Luce Pair of Gloves€29.50

Alternative Gloves (Amazon.co.uk)
Seibertron Gloves£15.99

Protection consists of gloves with soft padding on the fingers (LudoSport Midlands has some gloves for students to borrow each lesson to start with) and athletes with male-genitalia must wear a groin guard (box) -- go get a groin guard as soon as you start so you get used to wearing it -- female groin guards are optional.

The club provides light sabers for everyone to use in classes -- so you can take your time before committing to buy your very own light saber -- but we know you're already saving your money for this particular piece of sporting equipment.

In a tournament, juniors under the age of sixteen must wear protective goggles (we have a couple of pairs for our members to use), as must those who need to wear spectacles to compete.

Light Sabers

Light sabers must be from one of several approved manufacturers (Lama di Luce included), or self-built and signed off by one of our saber-smiths.

Once you are heading for your first tournament you'll be expected to wear the uniform appropriate to your rank.

Rank: Noviscio/Noviscia

Beginners are of the rank 'noviscio/noviscia' (novice), and you'll wear the black training tee-shirt and standard combat trousers, as available from the Lama di Luce website in Italy.

Most classes will try to do an occasional group order for kit.

In classes, the coloured training tees are optional/alternative kit allowed.

Rank: Iniziato/Iniziata

Sometime during your first couple of years with the sport, when you have demonstrated a good understanding of the principles of the sport (Se.Cu.Ri.) -- your instructors will eventually promote you to Iniziata/Iniziato (initiate), you are then entitled to wear the beaver brown/grey sub-tunic and the LudoSport belt.

Iniziata/Iniziato are also allowed to wear an optional black over-tunic.

Rank: Academico

Once you have completed the basic forms and courses of the sport (Form 1, Form 2 and Course-Y), you will be eligible for promotion to Academica/Academico, the uniform then consists of your choice of coloured sub-tunic (red, yellow, orange or green) along with the optional black over-tunic.

And Beyond

Further training and development will result in promotion to Calvaliere (Cavalier).

Masters and technico wear a lilac/purple sub-tunic. Technico are the coaches that are qualified to teach other instructors the forms of LudoSport techniques.
